I was so suprised to see my own name on the site. My grandparents on both sides were from Crete - Skoulas & Sergakis. I wonder if we're related?

Now that I found this web site I understand why Georgios always welcomes us so friendly to his museum - because his web site is by Ingo from Germany who also made the one for our  car rental in Crete which is Eurocars for many years now. And Georgios also says that Ingo should pass by more frequently ;-)

Hallo, Wir waren im September fόr 5 Tage in Anogia und bei Marina gewohnt, haben aber erst jezt Ihre Homepage gefunden. Marina und Familie sind sehr nett und wir werden im nδchsten Jahr bestimmt wieder kommen. Auch im Dorf haben wir uns sehr wohl gefόhlt und schnell Kontakt zu den Einwohnern bekommen. Nun suche ich Fernseh- und Magazinberichte όber Anogia. Wer kann mir sagen, wie das deutsche Magazin heiίt, das im Museum ausliegt und Marinas Vater Georgios ganzseitig zeigt?

Ich war am Sonntag in Anogia und war sehr beeindruckt, weil dieser Ort offensichtlich ein Symbol des Widerstands gegen den Faschismus ist; ich wuesste gerne mehr darueber, moechte aber keine Fragen stellen, die traurige Erinnerungen wecken, schreibe eine Arbeit ueber franzoesischen Existenzialismus und dessen Verarbeitung der Erfahrungen des zweiten Weltkrieges. Ganz in diesem Sinne empfinde ich Kreta immer sehr existenzialistisch, wie eine harte Pruefung, weniger als Urlaub. Auch die Bilder haben mich sehr stark beeindruckt. Ueber Kontakte oder e-mails wuerde ich mich sehr freuen. Viele Gruesse von H.H.

Nein, mit Faschismus hat das nichts zu tun, sondern mit Krieg. Kurz nach der Landung der deutschen Wehrmacht hatten Leute aus Anogia die abrόckenden britischen Truppen unterstόtzt, auch mit Partisanen-άberfδllen. Im Gegenzug hat die Wehrmacht die meisten Mδnner des Dorfes erschossen. Daher der Beiname "Dorf der Witwen". (webmaster)
